    Aveda Institute Birmingham Masters Photoshoot

    Students from Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Birmingham did hair and makeup for looks inspired by the decades. Read about their inspiration and the stunning images from their Masters Photoshoot.

    What inspired the look?

    “I have a love for the 80’s. It is one of my favorite time periods. There was so much freedom and it was a time for creativity. Also Rock was big at this time.”

    Why did you choose Aveda?

    “I chose Aveda because I had heard so many great things about the school. I felt it would be the best place to learn and grow for my future.”

    “I liked the style of the 1920s”

    “I chose Aveda because I love how it gives back to the environment.”

    Why did you chose Aveda?

    “I chose Aveda based on its reputation and philosophy. I have used many Aveda products throughout the years and knew that the Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute would be a good fit for me. I have always been interested in whole body wellness and a natural approach to health.”

    Inspiration: 1940’s Gender Equality

    What inspired the look?

    “I chose gender equality because it was a topic often discussed. I used politics/what society thinks what a woman should be and defied the odds. I wanted to get people to see the importance of the issue and make them think. Women can do what any man can do.”

    Why did you chose Aveda?

    “I chose Aveda because of its outstanding reputation. I am very creative and love everything to do with skin. My aspiration is to one day own a private practice.”

    “My favorite looks to create are tribal warrior and festival makeup.”

    “I chose Aveda because of it’s all natural approach. I love how Aveda educates us and what we learn.”

    What inspired the look?

    “My mom was born in the 60’s, so I’ve always been interested in the fashion that has transpired throughout her life. Also, Twiggy has always been such an amazing fashion icon.”

    Why did you chose Aveda?

    “I chose Aveda because it is such a beautiful and well put together institute. I toured other schools but this one really stood out to me. I hope to one day own a salon and have a “Glam Room.””

    What inspired the look?

    “I love mermaids. I wish I was one. Zoey has the perfect mermaid look as well.”

    “I chose Aveda because it is a top notch school. The name is well known and will let me be a step ahead of everyone because Aveda is known to be one of the best of the best.”

    What inspired the look?

    “I’ve been seeing invisible brows around the runways and editorials so I wanted to try it. Usually the brows are just blended in the makeup so I decided to take it to the extreme: get rid of them all together. I was inspired by the challenge of special effects.”

    Why did you chose Aveda?

    “I chose Aveda because of its roots in Ayurveda. Aveda’s mission fits my life and my work in holistic wellness.”

    “I like the holistic view/mission Aveda has, as well as their products.”

    “My model’s look reminded me a lot of the Black Swan. She had the dark hair and pale skin. I also thought she was a good model and could act like the Black Swan character.”

    “I chose Aveda because I felt it was the best school to help me build the career I want.”

    “The look was inspired by my love of how Indian brides look on their wedding and I thought my model would be perfect for that look.”
