“I began the journey to becoming an Esthetician when I was laid off from a county hospital where I was employed for almost 10 years. I realized that even though I devoted almost 10 years of my life to that company, I was never really happy and always felt I was not pursuing my dreams.

I decided to attend Aveda because several of my high school classmates attended, graduated, and have held successful careers. I also was impressed with the staff and the holistic approach Aveda takes in regards to skin care and overall wellness. I felt welcomed from the moment I entered the school. I knew I was making the best decision for my future.

When I started school I knew I wanted to excel as an Esthetician in a Medical Spa. Now that I have completed phase one, I am really interested in becoming an Educator. I would love to teach someone the things that I have learned and watch them flourish.

My family is my motivation to attend school every day. I want my husband, children, and parents to be proud of me. I want my daughters to see that their mom never gave up on her dreams even though there was a 10-year detour.

The obstacle I want to overcome while attending school is graduating. I really wouldn’t call it an obstacle more of a goal that I plan to achieve with flying colors. It does get hard at times, but I don’t lose focus of my goals.

My biggest role model is my mother. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She is a positive person and is always willing to help others. She showed me through hard work and dedication that you can achieve anything. She never let anyone or anything change her beliefs or values. She set the example of how a mother should treat her children and a wife should treat her spouse.

My advice I would give to my fellow classmates is to attend school with a purpose. Do not get engulfed with negative people or situations. Take on each day like it’s a new day and make it a better day than the last one.”
