Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Houston is home to a skincare professional program that aims to train the next generation of skin care experts, preparing students for exciting, successful careers in the beauty field.
Our Houston campus’s Esthiology (esthetics) program covers a wide range of essential beauty topics and techniques, spanning facials and masks to color psychology and aromatherapy. Upon graduation, students have the tools they need to secure state licensure and jumpstart their esthetician careers.
OUR ESTHIOLOGY CURRICULUM
what will you learn in the Esthiology Curriculum? —
We’ve designed our Esthiology program to meet the diverse needs of all our students, preparing them for thriving careers in skin care. We focus on holistic beauty and well-being, setting us apart from traditional esthetics programs. Our esthetics curriculum in Houston utilizes our internationally renowned Aveda pure flower products as well as wellness techniques and rituals rooted in Ayurvedic tradition, updated for today. Our aim is to ensure that every skincare program graduate can provide a complete spa experience, including facials, waxing, makeup application, and more.
The Esthiology program blends classroom theory and hands-on practice so that our students develop the knowledge and skills that mirror industry best practices. Training hours are spent on a wide variety of activities, from theory studies to live demonstrations, sessions in our in-house lab, and plenty of practical experience in our full-service salon with the support of licensed estheticians. You also have the opportunity to practice your new techniques at our many extracurricular events.
Training hours are split into several subjects, with almost one-third of the program dedicated to facial treatments, cleansing, and masking. The remaining course content touches on other essential topics, including anatomy and physiology, makeup application, rules and laws, chemistry, client care, salon management, nutrition, and even color psychology.

How long does it take?
The 750-hour Esthiology program at our Houston campus takes 25 weeks to complete. You can expect to attend 30 hours of skincare-related classes or training per week. You can choose from two schedules, depending on which fits your life better: Monday-Wednesday-Friday or Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday, from 9 am – 8 pm (8 am – 7pm on Saturdays). There is a one-hour break for lunch each day.
What’s needed to enroll?
To enroll in the Esthiology program at our Houston campus, you must meet the following requirements:
Age: 16 years (note – you must be 17 years old to sit licensing exams)
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Other Requirements: Pay a $100 non-refundable application fee, complete an interview, and submit a letter of recommendation, proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful status, and a copy of your Social Security card.
