Coach of the Year: Katie McClusky, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Austin
Katie McClusky is a master colorist, a lifelong learner, and a coach who leads with both experience and empathy. Her career has taken her from top salons in Los Angeles to Chicago and New York City, but her passion has always remained rooted in education.
Now serving as a Regional Educator Coach in Austin, Katie brings a wealth of technical knowledge, advanced training, and leadership to the classroom. She’s committed to pushing herself and others beyond their comfort zones, always in pursuit of excellence. Her dedication to mentorship and growth makes her a powerful force in shaping the next generation of beauty professionals.
Region 1 Winner: Evon Taylor, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Atlanta
With nearly 40 years in the beauty industry and 18 years in education, Evon Taylor is a true pillar of knowledge and care.
Evon’s unique approach combines life skills with technical skills, helping students grow not only as stylists but as individuals. He finds inspiration through his wife, Tammie, whom he’s been married to for 38 years. That same love and dedication shine through in everything he does at Aveda. He’s a mentor, role model, and guiding light for countless future professionals.
Region 2 Winner: Lakeisha Washington, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Baton Rouge
Lakeisha Washington is a beloved educator known for her creativity, authenticity, and deep commitment to her students. With years of experience behind the chair and in the classroom, she brings a grounded yet inspiring approach to cosmetology education.
Lakeisha’s teaching style blends technical skill with heart. She believes in meeting students where they are and guiding them toward success with patience, passion, and a whole lot of encouragement. Her leadership and dedication make her a standout mentor across the Aveda network.
Region 3 Winner: Kortney Rigau, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute New York
Kortney is a cutting and color educator who keeps creativity and fun at the center of everything she teaches. Her hands-on approach and infectious energy make her classes a place where students not only learn but light up.
Kortney believes in making education an experience, one that empowers students to find their spark and thrive. Whether she’s demonstrating a new technique or offering a word of encouragement, her passion for this industry is felt by every student she meets.
