From junior high hallways to professional theater productions, Bella Monteleone has always had a passion for hair and makeup. Now, as a soon-to-be graduate of Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute, Bella reflects on the journey that has prepared her for a flourishing career in the beauty industry.
By the time she was 15 years old, Bella set her sights on cosmetology school. When she was ready to enroll, Aveda Arts became her clear choice. “I chose Aveda for the staff and atmosphere,” she shared. “I felt at home from the first visit.” With graduation on the horizon, Bella feels proud and ready to tackle her next chapter, equipped with the skills and experiences she’s gained.
Bella’s passion for beauty began in junior high, where she would style her classmates’ hair and makeup before school dances. “I had a talent and loved to share it,” she said. Her interest deepened when she joined theater, diving into the world of theatrical makeup, airbrushing, and wig design. Under the mentorship of New Orleans-based hair and makeup designer Amanda Bravender, Bella’s skills blossomed, leading her to exciting opportunities in the industry.
Some highlights include working on productions such as Ballet Goes to Broadway at Jefferson Performing Arts Center, the short film Beautiful, and Cabaret at Cutting Edge Theater. Most recently, Bella showcased her talent by creating stunning looks for fans attending the Taylor Swift convention in New Orleans, “Without Amanda, these opportunities wouldn’t have been possible.”
As a lifelong Disney fan, Bella channeled her creativity into a unique side hustle: Magical Moments by Bella. Dressing up as iconic princesses, she performs at birthday parties, tea events, and charity functions. This endeavor taught her the art of wig styling and maintenance, helping her transform into beloved characters while perfecting her craft.
After graduation, Bella is determined to continue pursuing her passion for film and theater hair and makeup, earning more SAG-AFTRA credits, and eventually becoming a union member. Her long-term goals include owning a salon and becoming a platform artist, traveling and teaching others who share her dreams.
“I am driven, enthusiastic, and ready to tackle my goals,” Bella shared. “My future is bright and I’m committed to the hard work it will take to achieve success.”
