At our state-of-the-art green facility near the Louisiana Riviera coast, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Hammond is devoted to preparing aspiring skincare experts for an exciting, creative career in esthetics.
As an esthetician-in-training, you’ll become a pro at skincare and consultation skills as well as selecting and using Aveda’s 100% vegan line of treatment products to treat the skin and pamper your clients.
OUR ESTHIOLOGY CURRICULUM
what will you learn in the Esthiology Curriculum? —
The Esthiology program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Hammond is designed to keep up with the best in skincare and related topics, such as hair removal, makeup application, facial massage, aromatherapy, and other spa services. Our top-notch educators provide the necessary training you need to pass the state board exam in esthetics and receive your professional license and launch your esthetician career.
Our Hammond esthetician program is comprised of 250 hours of introductory, theoretical instruction in subjects such as general chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and safety/sanitation.
The remaining 500 hours are made up of hands-on, practical training in our clinic and spa learning to perform these services:

- Electrical tools and treatments

- Hair removal
- Makeup
- Massage

How long does it take?
As an Esthiology (esthetician) student at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Hammond, you will attend classes for 27 hours each week. You have two scheduling options to choose from so you can best accommodate your individual schedule: Classes take place from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. every day, with a one-hour lunch break each day, and students may choose to attend either a Monday – Wednesday schedule or a Thursday – Saturday schedule.
The program takes 7 to 10.5 months to complete, and new cohorts begin at various times throughout the year.
What’s needed to enroll?
To qualify for the esthiology program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute – Hammond, you need to meet these requirements:
Age: 16 years
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Other Requirements: You must provide a state-issued photo ID, a letter of recommendation, a letter of intent, a $100 nonrefundable application fee, proof of U.S. citizenship, and your Social Security card.

Educator ESTHI —
Arsheenique, known as Nique, has been apart of the Aveda family since January 2024. She completed Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute and became state board licensed est 2020. Additional to being an Esthiology Educator, she operates her own Esthetics business called Unique Aesthetics, where she has been a solo Esthetician since 2023. Nique has worked with different spas and was a manager at Sephora for almost 3 years before becoming an Educator. She is currently a Biochemistry student at Southern University A&M College with aspirations of becoming a Dermatologist. Nique’s favorite part of teaching is sharing knowledge and being able to be her goofy, bubbly self while doing so!

Tay Tay has been working at Aveda in Hammond since 2022. She graduated in 2018, and always knew she wanted to be an educator. She got her educator license in 2023, and has had experience as both Advanced Educator and Intro Theory Educator. Her favorite part of her job is watching her student’s journey from beginning to end, and seeing them grow as estheticians.

Hi there! Aveda Cosmetology Graduate here! I’ve been the hair industry for 15+ years and a Esthiology educator for three at Aveda Arts And Institutes. I love being an educator for Aveda and being around all of the products is a plus! Boy mom and owner of Feaux Fizzle skin care line focusing on organic bath bombs. I’m grateful for my team here and I truly love our campus layout, right in the center of downtown Hammond . I enjoy being able to outsource for demos and other career driven women in our industry to show protocols for the students to get to enjoy while here. In addition to our protocols I try to bring them as much extra curriculum within our same occupations so that they thrive in their future🫶🏼

Stefanie Schilling has been working for The Aveda Arts and Sciences Institutes since 2019. She graduated from our Hammond campus in esthiology program in the fall of 2018, receiving her estheticians license shortly after. She has been an educator since Fall 2021 at our Hammond campus. When not at school, you can find her with her 5 rescued pets, her husband or her nose in a book.

Karlie Simmons started her journey with Aveda in 2010 when she enrolled for Cosmetology at our Covington Campus. Karlie came back to Covington as the Retail Manager in 2016 and become the Director in 2021. In 2024 she joined the Hammond campus and is now at both locations. Karlie is a mom of two boys. You can find her soaking up family time when she’s not at work.
