New Orleans Instructor Training
Maybe you’re the person your classmates turned to in beauty school, or maybe you love mentoring newly minted grads in your salon. If you’re interested in teaching others the art and craft of beauty on a part-time or full-time basis, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute New Orleans’ instructor training program might be for you.
At our New Orleans campus, we turn licensed cosmetologists or estheticians into licensed instructors who understand the theory and practice of education. Along the way, you can also refresh your own beauty skills and gain a deeper understanding of the Aveda way.
OUR Instructor training program
instructor training coursework —
The Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute New Orleans Instructor Training program prepares licensed cosmetologists or estheticians for a teaching career. Coursework covers the science of teaching as well as what you need to know for the state licensing educator exam. Students graduate from the program ready to teach cosmetology, manicuring, or esthetics, or to become educator trainers themselves.
Throughout this 500-hour program, plan to tackle four distinct instruction areas. The first section encompasses 150 hours and focuses on teaching methods and classroom preparation. The next section, over 175 hours, exposes trainees to the science of teaching, including techniques to improve effectiveness of your instruction. You’ll learn how to use various types of tests to assess student understanding, as well as how testing can impact your teaching methods.
By the time you reach the final two sections of the instructor training program, you’ll dedicate 175 to honing your teaching chops, gaining vital hands-on experience through supervised teaching practice. By the time you reach the end of this 500-hour program, you should not only be ready to tackle Louisiana’s certification exam, but secure instructor roles at approved beauty schools in the state.
how long does it take? —
The 500-hour Instructor Training program typically takes 16 weeks to complete, or about four months. Instructor trainees spend 31.25 hours per week in school. Because we have rolling admissions for this program, students can start at any time by arrangement. Class schedules for instructor training students can vary, so reach out for more details.
what’s needed to enroll? —
To enroll in the Instructor program at our New Orleans campus, you need to have an active license from the state of Louisiana in cosmetology, esthetics, or manicuring.
