OUR Instructor training program
instructor training coursework —
Though the Charlotte campus offers two distinct Instructor Training programs, both focus on teaching principles and effective education. All our instructor students are already licensed in their chosen field, so the objective of the training is to teach you how to teach, not to teach you cosmetology or esthetics techniques you already know.
Instructor training subjects covered in each program include:
- The challenges of teaching
- Characteristics of teaching
- Students and learning
- Developing a course of study
- Planning for effective instruction
- Developing instructional aids
- Evaluating student performance
- Creating a positive classroom environment
Additionally, each program emphasizes practical experience, enabling you to put what you learn into practice through a student-teacher module.
When you complete your program, you’ll be qualified to teach part-time or full-time in a licensed cosmetology/esthetician school or as a wellness educator or consultant.
how long does it take? —
Our stunning Charlotte campus is home to two separate Instructor Training programs, depending on your field of experience and study.
Our 800-hour cosmetology instructor program can be completed in 6.5 months, and the 650-hour esthiology (esthetics) instructor classes can last just five months.
Typically, students study on a full-time basis, attending classes for three or four days a week. However, the specific class schedule for our Instructor Training programs can vary over time, so please reach out for the latest up-to-date information.
what’s needed to enroll? —
If you would like to enroll in one of the Charlotte campus’ Instructor Training programs, you must hold an active cosmetology or esthetician license. You must also submit an application, pay a $100 non-refundable application fee, submit a letter of recommendation, a letter of intent, a government-issued ID with proof of age and photo, and a social security card. You must also schedule an interview with an Admissions Manager.
