Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Austin campus offers both Cosmetology and Esthiology (esthetics) programs. If you’re interested in hair or having multiple skills for clients, including manicuring and makeup application, pursuing a career in cosmetology might be the right path for you. But if your focus is more on skincare, facial massage, and relaxation, then esthetics might be a better fit.
Cosmetology
The Cosmetology program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Austin covers hair services, including cutting, styling, coloring, and texture services. The program also teaches other beauty skills, including nail care and makeup application. Coursework combines theoretical instruction with real-world, hands-on experience so you can truly practice what you learn.
Training emphasizes techniques, business management, and retail knowledge, giving you the tools to launch a beauty career in many different directions. Students are in class for three 10-hour days every week.
Esthiology
The Esthiology program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Austin prepares students for a career as an esthetician. Our curriculum covers facials, waxing, makeup application, business development, wellness, and retail knowledge, while emphasizing Aveda’s high-performing signature products developed from pure flower and plant essences.
Aveda Arts & Sciences Austin prides itself on continuing to evolve the student curriculum to keep pace with the skills demanded by the quickly changing skincare industry. The Austin campus is one of the few that incorporates HydraFacial training and certification into its esthetician curriculum—which alumni have attested to giving them a leg up in the job search. Our Esthiology students are in class for three 10-hour days every week.
