Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Dallas provides an outstanding educational experience for students enrolled in our Cosmetology program. The program is designed to fully prepare you for a well-rounded career in beauty and wellness, providing such resources as a busy open-concept Aveda student salon floor, a photography studio, and a faculty of well-regarded industry professionals.
our COSMETOLOGY curriculum
Most of our Cosmetology program is dedicated to haircare, but you also learn other services and skills during your training.
The 1,000-hour cosmetology program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute – Dallas dedicates 800 hours to hair care, 100 to nail care, and 100 to skin care.
The standard haircare curriculum includes the following:
- Cutting
- Styling
- Coloring
- Chemical textures
- Theoretical concepts related to cutting, styling, coloring, and chemical textures
- Business skills
- Professional development and salon management
- Health, safety, and laws
The nail care curriculum focuses on the theory and application of manicuring. You also learn about health and safety, business practices and professional development, and health and safety practices related to manicuring.
Our skincare instruction includes training in facials, hair removal, business practices, and health/safety.
The 1,500-hour program covers the same general topics, but in more depth. There are 1,200 hours of hair care, 150 hours of manicuring, and 150 hours of instruction on caring for skin. Throughout all of these, students also are exposed to subjects such as professional development, business practices, and laws in these practice areas.
Our 1,500-hour Cosmetology students are exposed to exciting opportunities that allow them to shape their artistry. In these comprehensive programs, you’ll have extra workshops and classes on topics such as:
- How to conduct in-depth beauty consultations and retail sales
- Understanding industry pay structures and how to grow your income potential
- Editorial styling for runway shows and print publications
- More networking opportunities during Industry Days with renowned guest speakers and visiting artists

How long does it take?
Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Dallas offers two versions of our Cosmetology program: one comprising 1,000 hours of training (to be completed in 8 to 12 months) and another comprising 1,500 hours (to be completed in 12 to 18 months).
The longer 1,500-hour program is designed to hone your talent for your beauty career debut. Our 1,500-hour Cosmetology students gain invaluable additional time behind the chair, creating muscle memory that best positions them for future success.
For either the 1,000-hour or 1,500-hour Cosmetology program at Dallas, you can choose either a three-day schedule, Thursday through Saturday, or four-day schedule that runs Monday through Thursday. Both schedules are 30 hours per week and begin at 9:00 a.m.
The four-day schedule runs until 5:30 p.m. each day (with a one-hour lunch break), while the students who enroll in the three-day week attend until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday (each with a one-hour lunch break).
What’s needed to enroll?
Students in the cosmetology program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute – Dallas must meet these requirements:
Age: 16
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Other Requirements: Must submit a valid/unexpired photo identification with proof of age, your Social Security number, a $100 nonrefundable application fee, a letter of recommendation, a letter of intent, and proof of U.S. citizenship
