Financial Aid at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes —

We never want finances to be a barrier to anyone finding their purpose in beauty.

At Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes, we want students to achieve their dreams without these concerns. Our financial aid team will help you through this process with the shared goal of seeing you on the path towards your new passion.

If you’d like to better understand financial aid options at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes even before speaking to a financial aid representative, learn more here about the types of financial aid we offer and a few ways to expedite the process.

Types of Financial Aid

We know that paying tuition and fees in full from savings is not realistic for many of our students. Fortunately, we have different options to help pay for your program.

payment plans —

Students can pay in installments through our interest-free monthly payment plan. You will not be charged interest for making payments if you pay off the total amount before graduation.

federal financial aid —

Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes are accredited Title IV educational institutions, which means our students who meet eligibility requirements can receive financial assistance through federal government programs. This assistance can be used to pay for tuition, room and board, books, supplies, and even transportation.

If you qualify, you might receive the following types of aid:

Grants

A grant is money paid directly to the school that you don’t have to repay. The most common federal grant provided to students is the Pell Grant, based on financial need.

Loans

A student loan is money you must repay, usually with interest. The federal government administers several types of loans with varying terms.

Veterans’ education benefits

If you are a former or current service member with the U.S. Armed Forces, you may qualify for certain tuition benefits.

other types of financial aid  —

Aside from federal aid, you may also qualify for the following:

Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Scholarships

Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes offer scholarships through programs such as the Anthony Fantroy Memorial Scholarship for economically disadvantaged students, or the Catwalk for Water Scholarship, which provides an extraordinary opportunity: a full-ride cosmetology program to contest winners who demonstrate their creative chops in weaving together themes of clean water and environmental sustainability into a beauty makeover.

Beauty Changes Lives

The Beauty Changes Lives Organization is committed to uniting the beauty industry to support the next generation of beauty and wellness professionals. Since its inception, the foundation has raised over $7.5 million and changed the lives of more than 1,500 beauty and wellness professionals through scholarships and resources for cosmetology, nail, massage, make-up, barber and esthetics professionals.

State funding

Several states where Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes are located have financial award programs for students pursuing higher education. For example, the Minnesota State Grant is available to students in Minnesota who are at least 17, have graduated from high school, and have demonstrated financial need.

Outside private grants and scholarships

You may be affiliated with a business, organization, or affinity group—or can search for one in your community or online—that provides aid to qualifying students, which may be based on need, experience, or academic performance. Grants or scholarships do not need to be paid back, provided all eligibility criteria are met.

Loans

If you are not eligible for other financial aid, you may be able to secure a loan through your bank or other financial institution.

The Lowdown on FAFSA

what is the FAFSA? why is it important?  —

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a standard form offered by the federal government at fafsa.gov.

We recommend that all interested students fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible, because it gives our financial aid team all the details needed to recommend your best options to pay for school. The FAFSA has been updated, meaning that filling it out is simpler and quicker than in years past.

To fill out the FAFSA, you will first create an account on the website. The FAFSA website will walk you through the steps, which include submitting information about your identity and providing consent to access your tax records.

Adding a School Code in Your FAFSA

When you fill out your FAFSA, we encourage you to add the federal school code for the Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute that you are interested in. When you do this, information from your FAFSA will be automatically shared with the appropriate campus, so that we can prepare your financial aid package. You can do this with no obligation to commit to enrolling. This step simply lets you get a financial aid package from our team sooner.

Financial Aid Help

how can we help alleviate some stress? —

Each campus has a financial manager who works closely with students to make school affordable, discuss the assistance they may receive, and create a sensible financial plan.

Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes also ensure that anybody considering a student loan receives initial counseling to ensure they understand the terms and what it means to take out a loan.

Myths About Financial Aid

let us debunk some common myths —

Decisions about financial aid are not this black and white. Other factors, such as the size of your family or your year in school, are also considered. When you fill out a FAFSA, you provide information to states and institutions that may automatically qualify you for aid.

There is nothing lost and potentially a lot to be gained by filling out the FAFSA even if you think you are not eligible.

Most federal aid is based on need, not grades. As long as you maintain satisfactory progress as a student, you can continue receiving aid.

Don’t let your anxiety get in the way! Rest assured, the FAFSA only takes about 30 minutes to complete, and for some individuals could even be much quicker. However, if you need assistance, get in touch with us and let our Admissions team know that you would like help with financial aid.
