What Is Esthetics or Esthiology?

Esthetics, also called aesthetics or esthiology, is the practice of caring for the skin to improve its health and beauty. Those trained in this discipline can work as skincare specialists, more commonly called estheticians.

In esthetics, you perform a range of skincare services, which can include skin analysis and cleansing, detoxifying, and moisturizing. You may also treat certain skin disorders or conditions, or do facial waxing, makeup application, or use specialized equipment for facials.

Esthetics is a growing field, with increasing consumer popularity as investing in antiaging, self-care, and skin health is hitting the mainstream.
