Passion Into Purpose
Take the first step towards pursuing an education in beauty!
Instructor Training Programs at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute —
For licensed beauty practitioners who want to become changemakers through teaching, we offer Instructor Training programs at many of our Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes. Through our program, you can turn your calling into a full-time or part-time educator career—whether it’s with a school in the Aveda family or beyond.
At Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes, we pride ourselves in our educational experience, where students receive individualized training that can set them up for success after graduation. We know firsthand how important a single incredible teacher can be in the life of our students. A gifted beauty educator can bring mundane topics to life, coax a frustrated student to give that challenging skill one more try, or inspire a graduate to reach for a dream job.
If you feel the tug to impart your hard-won knowledge and skills to the next generation of beauty talent, learn more about our Instructor Training program and how it can transform you from licensed beauty pro to educator.
Instructor Training Program Overview
Each Instructor Training program has its own specifics depending on its campus location. Connect with our admissions team today to learn about the requirements and curriculum at your desired Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute campus. Instructor trainees are often accepted into our programs on a rolling basis.
Our typical candidate is a cosmetologist or esthetician with an active license. You do not need to have graduated from an Aveda Institute to qualify for our Instructor Training program. Some campuses may require you to have practiced in the industry for a certain period of time before applying.
The goal of the Instructor Training program is to prepare you for the state licensing exam to become an educator in your chosen field (cosmetology or esthetics).
Instructor Training Curriculum
Over the course of weeks, our Instructor Training is designed to enhance your technical beauty skills and generally covers topics such as:
- fundamentals of student learning methods
- effective teaching methods
- coursework development
- preparing and maintaining a high-quality learning environment in the classroom
- how to design assessments and evaluate student performance
As an instructor trainee, you will also do some real instruction at the campus where you are taking the Instructor Training program and receive feedback from veteran educators.
Careers After Instructor Training
After you have successfully graduated and received your license in beauty education, you will be eligible to take on part-time or full-time teaching roles at state-approved beauty schools. Depending on what your practitioner license was in, you’ll qualify to become either a cosmetology teacher or an esthetics teacher.
