Our new Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute has officially opened its doors in DUMBO, Brooklyn, marking an exciting new chapter for beauty education in one of New York City’s most dynamic and creative neighborhoods. The new campus, located at 21 Pearl Street in the historic 20 Jay Street building, brings a fresh, modern approach to learning for aspiring beauty professionals.

A Creative Hub for the Next Generation The move from SoHo to DUMBO is a transformation into a space designed to foster creativity, innovation, and sustainability. Just steps from the waterfront and surrounded by DUMBO’s iconic architecture, the new campus is built to inspire students and immerse them in the vibrant local culture.
According to Traci Sakosits, Creative Director and VP of Education, “We envisioned a campus that reflects the future of beauty education—not just a school, but a creative space that sparks collaboration, community, and confidence. This DUMBO location is truly inspiring—art, culture, and beauty are all right outside our door.”
A Space Designed for Learning and Growth The state-of-the-art campus offers industry-leading programs in Cosmetology and Esthiology, providing hands-on training in real salon environments. Students not only develop technical skills but also gain mastery in Aveda’s plant-powered products and rituals.
Some key features of the new campus include:
-Advanced classrooms and salon spaces designed for hands-on learning
-A retail boutique offering a full range of Aveda products
-A professional-grade photoshoot studio for content creation and portfolio development
-Community and lounge spaces for collaboration and connection
Sustainability at the Core True to Aveda’s commitment to environmental leadership, the new campus features sustainable design elements. Countertops and accents are made from recycled plastic sheets crafted by Smile Plastics, reflecting Aveda’s dedication to responsible design.

Edwin Neill, President of Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes, shared, “Our new DUMBO campus gives students more than an education—it gives them a place to create, collaborate, and grow. We’re excited to welcome future professionals to this next chapter.”
A Community of Creativity DUMBO’s thriving arts and fashion scene makes it the perfect setting for Aveda Arts. Situated among creative neighbors like Fontainhas, Steele Pilates, AIR Gallery, and Usagi, the Institute is well-positioned for students to build connections and find inspiration.
Jed Walentas, Principal at Two Trees Management, echoed this excitement: “We’re thrilled to welcome Aveda Arts to DUMBO. Their presence brings a new dimension of beauty and education to the neighborhood—exactly the kind of energy we strive to cultivate here.”
