From Film Set to Beauty School: Madison’s Journey at Aveda Arts Atlanta

“It’s a great day of wellness here at Aveda Arts Atlanta!” That’s how student Madison Foote describes her experience since joining the Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Atlanta cosmetology program—and her journey to get here is anything but ordinary.
Just weeks before starting beauty school, Madison wrapped production on Night Shift, an ’80s-style slasher horror film based on a cult-favorite video game by PuppetCombo. What started as a request to assist with hair and makeup turned into a lead role in designing the film’s looks.
“I actually asked if I could just assist so I could learn and observe, but instead they offered me the lead position with both creative freedom and some guidance. It was campy and over-the-top but still true to the characters and the era. That experience shaped how I see beauty as storytelling.”
Storytelling Through Beauty
For Madison, film and beauty are two sides of the same coin.
“On Night Shift, every hair and makeup choice had to fit the 1980s vibe and reveal something about the character. At Aveda, I think about guests in the same way. I’m not just doing a cut or color—I’m helping them tell their own story.”
Why Aveda Arts Atlanta?
When Madison was looking for a cosmetology school in Atlanta, she wanted more than just technical training. She wanted a place that aligned with her creative vision and her values.
“At Aveda Arts, I’m learning that beauty is as much about wellness as it is about the look. That’s something I can bring into any career path—whether I’m working behind the chair, backstage, or on a movie set.”
The Aveda Arts Atlanta program offers students hands-on education and opportunities that prepare them for diverse paths in beauty.
Looking Ahead: Glam Meets Gore
When asked about her dream future, Madison lights up:
“I’d love to be the person on set who can do it all—the one who makes an actor feel gorgeous in one scene and then completely transforms them for a slasher scene in the next. That mix of glam and gore is where I feel most at home.”
With early screenings of Night Shift now happening in theaters across the country and internationally, Madison is already seeing her artistry reach a global audience. Tickets are available through @nightshiftbutcher on Instagram.
