Every beauty professional has a story, and for Avery that story began at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Hammond. Since graduating from the Esthiology program in 2024, Avery has turned her passion for skincare, artistry, and helping others into a thriving career in South Louisiana.
From Aveda Arts Hammond to a Growing Career in Esthetics
Avery started as an esthetician at Twenty Two Aesthetics in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and has recently accepted a job at Luxury Beauty Clinic in Metairie, Louisiana, where she offers a wide range of services including microneedling, dermaplaning, customized facials, brow and lash services, and more. Beyond the treatment room, she also travels throughout the South as a freelance makeup artist, helping clients look and feel their best for life’s biggest moments.
“I love bringing beauty and joy to every room I walk in,” Avery shares. “I’m a true perfectionist when it comes to my craft.”
A Community That Lasts Beyond Graduation
While Avery was eager to begin her career, one of her biggest takeaways from Aveda Arts was learning to appreciate every step of the journey.
“I absolutely loved my class and the Hammond campus,” she says. “It’s so easy to want to rush through school to get to your career, but every second there is valuable—from the moment you clock in to the moment you clock out.”
She also credits the supportive instructors and staff for helping shape her experience.
“All of the Hammond staff were phenomenal. I know I can still reach out to them if I ever have questions or truly need anything. To me, that shows the value of Aveda and the community they build.”
Advice for Future Estheticians
For students considering a career in esthetics, Avery encourages them to embrace their unique talents and remember why they started.
“If it was put in your heart, it was meant to be your purpose.”
She believes esthetics is about much more than skincare, it’s about using your artistry to help people feel confident during every season of life.
“This industry will bring you clients experiencing the best moments of their lives, uncertain moments, and even the lowest moments. I like to think we’re truly skin therapists. Just remember to value yourself too, and make sure you have an esthie bestie who takes care of you.”
