what will you learn in the cosmetology curriculum? —
The 1,500-hour Cosmetology program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute New Orleans prepares you for a career as an entry-level hair stylist while training you in the Aveda way: recommending and using high-performance, plant-powered line of Aveda products and techniques that tie together the ancient and the new.
Throughout the Cosmetology program in our New Orleans campus, you’ll tackle both theory and practical coursework. You’ll encounter topics, skills, and ideas in the classroom or clinic floor that can then be applied to real-world, practical scenarios. For every one hour of coursework covered in the classroom, you’ll likely spend twice that time in a hands-on, real-world setting, including practicing your skills on clients under the direct supervision of our team of experienced, licensed instructors.
Our Cosmetology curriculum covers the fundamentals of hair care, including hair cutting, hair design, coloring, and shampooing. Additionally, you’ll cover vital basics spanning from anatomy and skin care to manicuring and makeup application.
Students in our New Orleans campus can also advance their skills with eyelash extension training, photoshoots, social media classes, working with the Style Squad for the New Orleans Pelicans Dance Team, and participating in New Orleans Independent Fashion Week.
