Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute
Austin Cosmetology

Options abound at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Austin, where we offer not one but two different Cosmetology programs to start your journey to hair and beauty success: a shorter training program at 1,000 clock hours, and a more comprehensive training program at 1,500 hours.

Both our 1,000-hour and 1,500-hour Cosmetology programs focus heavily on hair but also cover a wide variety of other creative topics including makeup, nails, skincare, and more. Whatever your passion, you can follow it here at our Austin campus!

our COSMETOLOGY curriculum

Both of our Cosmetology programs cover a wide variety of hair, manicure, and skincare techniques, from hair cutting, coloring, and design, to facials, massage, skincare, and even salon management for those of you who truly want to go the extra mile and launch your own business.

Our programs emphasize the use of natural Aveda treatments and products, to ensure you can always give your clients the best service possible.

While we do integrate classroom sessions into our programs, we focus on that all-important hands-on training. Working in a salon environment with real clients under supervision encourages our students to build their confidence and practice their skills.

We also host twice-yearly career fairs and encourage our students to get involved with exciting extracurricular events, including contests, fashion shows, and volunteer opportunities, like Pride!

Our 1,500-hour program is aimed at truly preparing you for a successful future career as a hair and beauty expert, going above and beyond what you need to know for the state licensing exam. Special opportunities for our 1,500-hour Cosmetology students include:

  • Introductions to special guest speakers and industry leaders
  • Tutorials in editorial styling for runway, fashion, and print
  • Individual artistic development in the art of cuts and color
  • Classes covering a head-to-toe approach to wellbeing and beauty
  • Financial literacy of industry pay structures and how to unlock income growth potential
