our COSMETOLOGY curriculum
Students begin with theory and scientific study of anatomy and physiology. Instruction also covers critical safety and sanitation procedures and applicable state laws.
The curriculum moves quickly through the bedrock skills you’ll need when launching as a new beauty pro: hair care (cutting, styling, and texturizing, as well as coloring, toning, and bleaching), basic skincare services such as facials, and nail care (manicures and pedicures). You’ll learn through classroom study as well as through hands-on instruction, culminating in practice on clients on the clinic floor, with support and supervision from your licensed instructors.
We aim to give all our Cosmetology students the skills and knowledge they need to start a successful career. Throughout both the 1,000- and 1,500-hour programs, students become familiar with basic business and management skills that they will need after graduation: salon regulations and management practices, attracting and retaining clients, and retail skills.
Though both Cosmetology programs fulfill the state board’s requirements for the Cosmetology Operator license, the 1,500-hour program includes incredible additional opportunities to network with guest artists, create a portfolio of editorial looks for print and fashion work, develop your artistry and confidence in hair cutting and styling, and more. You’ll also gain greater business savvy through coursework on beauty compensation with topics such as how to grow your income as a beauty pro.

How long does it take?
Our Corpus Christi campus offers two Cosmetology programs, each fulfilling the state of Texas’ training requirements for the Cosmetology Operator (cosmetologist) license. We’re excited to provide these different program tracks to cater to the different needs and goals of our incoming students.
The fast-track 1,000-hour Cosmetology program can be completed in just under a year.
Our more comprehensive Cosmetology program runs 1,500 hour and is ideal for those who want to get a full preparation well beyond the state requirements to hone their artistry and business acumen.
Students in both Cosmetology programs attend for 30 training hours per week, divided over four days. Classes run Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break every day.
Our campus is in the charming Six Points district, known for its independent shops and restaurants, so there’s always plenty to explore in your downtime.
What’s needed to enroll?
To enroll in either Cosmetology or Cosmetology Operator program at our Corpus Christi campus, you must meet the following requirements:
Age: 16 years (note – you must be 17 years old to sit licensing exams)
Education: High school diploma (or equivalent)
Other Requirements: Submit an application, pay a $100 non-refundable application fee, submit a letter of recommendation, a letter of intent, a government-issued ID with proof of age and photo, and a social security card. You must also schedule an interview with a member of the Admissions team.
