Advanced Practice Esthiology 1100-Hour Program at Aveda Arts Minneapolis —
Currently only offered at our Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Minneapolis location.
In response to the growing demand for deeper knowledge and techniques in skincare, we offer an 1100-hour Advanced Practice Esthiology (Advanced Esthetics) program that combines our fundamental esthetics program with an advanced practice esthetics program. Differentiate yourself with esthetics training nearly double the length of a standard esthetics program—where cutting-edge esthetics technology meets Aveda rituals rooted in ancient skincare knowhow.
This Advance Practice Esthiology program is a great fit for aspiring estheticians who intend to offer skin treatments at the cutting edge of their field, especially those who want to be medical estheticians in medical or paramedical settings such as a medspa or dermatologist’s office. Eligible students include individuals new to the beauty business to already trained estheticians who want to transfer their hours into this program and deepen their practice.
Advanced Practice Esthiology Curriculum

You’ll begin with all of the topics normally covered in a standard esthetics program—clinical instruction and hands-on experience in facials, face and full-body waxes, makeup application, tinting, and lash extensions. This all comes with basic concepts in anatomy, dermatology, and chemistry related to skincare, as well as safety and infection control procedures as well as how to provide superior client service.
The advanced practice topics in this program include training in clinical techniques for services such as dermaplaning, chemical peels, electrical energy services, skin needling, advanced facial skin manipulation, and more. You’ll also gain a theoretical understanding of dermatological disorders, wound healing, electrical and light energy, and proper consultation methods with clients.
Specific advanced services you’ll be exposed to include:
- Chemical peels for exfoliation using beta hydroxy acid (BHA), alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), and trichloracetic acid (TCA)
- Device treatments, such as dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, and hydradermabrasion
- Electrical energy treatments, such as those using direct and indirect current, light equipment, and sound energy
- Skin needling
- Advanced extractions
- Lymphatic drainage
As with our other programs at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes, you’ll also learn these services with the Aveda system of products, which are 100% vegan and powered by pure plant and flower essences.
