Congratulations to Cosmetology student, Rain Lucas, for being Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Charlotte‘s March Student of the Month! We asked Rain some questions about herself, read below!
Q: Tell me a little about yourself, what’s your story?
A: My name is Rain Lucas, and I am from a small town in Ohio called Plainfield and lived their for most of my life. Right before my senior year, my mom and I packed everything up and moved to Mooresville, North Carolina. When I move to North Carolina I started a new life for myself, and I really wanted to pursue cosmetology as a career, instead I was offered a great job within the racing industry. I worked in that field for the next 10 years. The best experience of all was having my son Cru. I have spent the last 7 years dedicated to raising my son, and can truly say that aside from cosmetology, Cru is my biggest passion and my motivation in life. I want to be my son’s biggest role model, I want to show him what the combination of success and happiness looks like. All of that being said, I decided to take the opportunity and run with it. After 10 years of waiting, I decided to enroll at Aveda Cosmetology School to pursue my passion for cosmetology. I would not have been able to make my dreams come true if it wasn’t for the love and support of my mother, Lori and my son, Cru.
Q: Why did you choose Aveda?
A: I chose Aveda because of their mutual love for the planet and during my tour, Mr Alex, Ms Abby, and Hope really made me feel comfortable. As one of the first students to attend camp Aveda, I knew I had made the right choice. The passion and spirit of the Aveda Charlotte educators and our founder, Horst made me proud to call Aveda my home.
Q: What is your goal after graduating?
A: My overall goal after graduating Aveda is to constantly absorb as much knowledge as I can, and take my career to a whole new level by opening my own successful salon. But my biggest goal is to always stay positive and passionate.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: Fun fact! I was born on Friday the 13th!
