Gretchen Duplantis is our Student of the Month for March!

Gretchen is a master student and will be graduating from Aveda in June of 2017! Gretchen graduated high school from Vanderbilt Catholic High School in Houma, Lousiana. She was on the dance team for three years and captain her senior year. Sweet little Gretchen always has a smiling face. She is friendly with everyone she encounters. She is great with her clients and they always have wonderful things to say about her. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She is always willing to help anyone and she is always a day maker. We love having Gretchen as our student here at Aveda!

    Why Aveda?

“Everyone has always talked so highly of Aveda. When I discussed going to cosmetology school with my hairdresser and my esthetician, they both told me if I was serious about pursuing a career in cosmetology to go to Aveda! After touring the school, I knew it was for me and started two weeks later!”

    Why Hair?

“I have always had a passion for hair and makeup. When I was younger I loved to play in my friend’s hair. I never said no when someone asked me to curl, straighten, or help with a hairstyle. After attending college for a year I knew it wasn’t for me and that I should be doing what I love! Making people look and feel their best and have them leave happy after what you’ve done or said to them is the best reward. Doing hair gives me that.”

    Favorite skill?

“My favorite skill would have to be cut and color services. I love when someone comes in asking for a dramatic change in their hair cut or color. I am also obsessed with waxing services.”

    After Aveda?

“I plan to move back to my hometown to work in a salon there. I also plan to get a degree in business to hopefully open my own salon one day!”

    Advice for peers:

“My advice to my peers is to never be afraid to do something you’re passionate about. It’s never too late to do something that makes you happy. Never give up on your dreams!”
