James Wilhoit graduated from Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Atlanta in March, 2016. He will begin his career in the beauty industry as an intern at Van Michael Salons, an internationally-renowned Aveda Concept salon. What does having an AVEDA education mean to you?
“It means a high expectation, perfection, love, care and so many other things–caring for the world, making it and its people beautiful!”
What was your favorite experience during your beauty school education?
“The instructors and the passion they have to not just teach but bring their experience to the table and connect on the same level as their students.”
Where are you currently working?
“I start Van Michael April 18th!”
What does your job entail?
“I will be in intern.”
How did you get to this point?
“I applied for the position, and I was very persistent! I expressed my passion for working with Van Michael.”
What is your ultimate career goal, and how do you plan on achieving it?
“My ultimate goal is to own my own salon maybe in five or 10 years but first I want extensive training–that is why I chose Van Michael!”
Do you have any advice for current AVEDA students or recent graduates?
“Listen to what the instructors ask of you. They’re here to help you be a better you, and they’re more than giving you your money’s worth!”
