How to be a Successful Aveda Cosmetology Student

Blog post by AI South Beauty School student: Ilyssa Glover

Make the most of your time in Beauty School

Many people that I have personally come in contact with think that Beauty School is a walk in the park. Little do they know, being a successful student requires long hours, determination, hard work, dedication, and a passion for what you are doing!

Herman Cain said, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” It is so important to love the field of work that you are choosing to pursue; with that passion, you can have a positive outlook on any struggle that you may face while working towards your ultimate goal, which in my case is my cosmetology license!

There will always be tough days.  However, if you’re doing what you truly love the good days will outweigh the bad ones by far and make everything worthwhile. It is important to give your time in school 200 percent effort. The beauty industry can often require crazy hours. It is necessary to be flexible, work diligently, and always do your best to make sure the client is happy.

In this industry, time is money!! Don’t be late or on time, be early and strive to accomplish as much as you possibly can in the time you are given to do something. Read ahead, study, ask as many questions as you can, always challenge yourself by setting new goals to achieve, keep a positive attitude, and be happy.

“Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be.” -George Sheehan
