Meet Leila, our March Student of the Month!

Leila is a thriving member of our Esthetics Program and will be graduating with our May 2017 class! She is always the first to lend a helping hand with her classmates and educators. She exemplifies the qualities that any great spa professional should have and has left a lasting impression on everyone she meets and treats as well! Her background mostly includes retail management and managing a travel agency. She is also fluent in 3 languages! Leila is a very entrepreneurial individual and was wanting to work for herself but also give back, so the career path she has chosen seems to be a perfect fit for this gem!

Q: Why Aveda?

A: “I chose Aveda because of its good name, its mission statement and the natural products they use.  I believe Aveda has a good curriculum.  For me, the times/days were very important factors because having a family and a full-time job are very demanding.  Being able to come in 3 days a week allows me to work and take care of the family and still go to school.”

Q: What are your hobbies?

“I love to travel and experience different cultures and food.  As a wife and a mother, I love to be around my family and do things together.”

Q: How do you give back?

A: “I am involved with our church and the Young Moms group.  Also, I have helped with fundraising for many organizations like March of Dimes, Red Nose, breast cancer, arthritis foundations. I’m also planning to volunteer at the Homeless Kitchen in Houston after I finish school.”

Meet Jaleesa Dingle, our April Student of the Month!

Jaleesa was chosen for this accomplishment because she truly has a passion for serving others. If you were to ask Jaleesa’s classmates and educators to describe her, they light up and say, “Jaleesa is always positive, she is so kind, and she loves our industry!” Jaleesa has maintained 100% attendance throughout her time in school. She is dedicated to growing within the beauty industry and creating an exceptional experience for every guest and colleague she comes in contact with.

When we asked Jaleesa why she chose Aveda, her response was, “Because the environment is great! I feel nothing but positive energy when walking through the doors. I also love how much Aveda gives back to society and teaches us to be humble.”

Jaleesa grew up in Spring, Texas. She graduated from Andy Dekaney High School and went on to Lone Star College in pursuit of a teaching certification. She realized shortly after that her passion was the beauty industry and because of her love for doing hair, she wanted to take steps to become a Cosmetology educator.

She enjoys reading, spreading the love of Jesus, and of course changing up her hair weekly. Jaleesa also loves wig shopping. She says, ” I take pride in being bold and different which is why I got into making wigs of my own. Aveda has really helped me to grow as a stylist in training. I have always had the skills, but Aveda is polishing them and helping me to see my full potential. My hopes are to work at an Aveda salon and eventually become an educator.”

Jaleesa is also a part of the Women of Faith organization at her church. “We are all about lifting women up and helping them keep their Faith while living family oriented lifestyles.”

We asked Jaleesa to share some words of wisdom for others who are interested in pursuing the path of Cosmetology, her response was “I would tell everyone to keep striving and believing in in themselves. It took me a year to become brave enough to tell my parents about my love of Cosmetology. Never be afraid to do what you love and dream of!”
